Raptors Best Era without Bulls Head

The Toronto Raptors are enjoying their most successful run in franchise history. The last three seasons have culminated in playoff runs – with a fourth one on the way – and they advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. They’ve set their top three wins totals in a season as well: 56 (2015-16), 49 (2014-15), and 48 (2013-14).
It’s been an unprecedented run of success for the franchise, save for against one team: tonight’s opponent.
The Raptors have lost 11 straight to the Chicago Bulls, a streak that eerily coincides with their current run of strong play. The streak started in February 2014, dropping the newly-minted contenders from Toronto to 29-25. The Raps would finish the season 18-8 and have by and large been winning much more than losing ever since, except against the Bulls of course.
The Raps need not look far for company on the wrong end of a lengthy head to head losing streak. Fellow ACC tenants, the Toronto Maple Leafs, have dropped 14 straight to the Montreal Canadiens. At least the Bulls aren’t the Raps’ bitter rivals.
Tonight is a golden opportunity to finally break the streak. The Bulls aren’t the same team that started this streak, and are on pace to finish below .500 for the first time since the 2007-08 season.
And yes, they’ve beaten Toronto twice this season already – a Toronto team that featured a healthy Kyle Lowry to boot – but they were both in Chicago and the first meeting went to overtime before the Raptors finally ran out of gas.
